An operation codenamed RENGAW was launched on the Polish-Belarusian border. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the country on August 12.
The main task of the soldiers is to train the Polish Army in locations near the border. A reserve is already being formed on the territory of the Podlaskie Voivodeship in case the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border worsens.
«We are taking effective and adequate measures to deter the aggressor,» Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said.
According to him, the Polish Army is equipped with modern weapons and modern equipment. This will make it possible to give a decent rebuff to the aggressor.
On August 12, Blaszczak visited eastern Poland, where soldiers of the Polish Army are currently serving to support the Border Guard. He emphasized that the military task force has an educational and defensive nature. Up to 4,000 soldiers of army units will take part in these events.
In particular, units of the Polish Army from the 6th brigade, 12th brigade, 17th brigade, 25th brigade, CTO Wolverhampton, RAC, Bayraktar, helicopters are already stationed or soon will be stationed in one and a half dozen border bases of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. This equipment is assembled here in the Podlaskie Voivodeship to deter a potential aggressor.
The head of the Ministry of Defense also drew attention to the actions and strengthening of Russian propaganda. As he noted, the strengthening of the border by the Polish Army will be used by the Kremlin’s propaganda apparatus, therefore the representative of the department called on society to be ready for this.
It will be recalled that on August 4, it became known that Belarusian helicopters crossed the Polish border. Poland provided evidence of airspace crossing. The Polish Foreign Ministry called on Belarus to «stop all provocations» on the border and «urgently deal with» the situation. The ministry emphasized that the transmitted data contradicts the official statements of Minsk.
